The Goal

Lineside SPC is a web-based statistical process control platform designed to help manufacturers detect process instability while production is still running. The goal is to replace delayed paper- and spreadsheet-based workflows with a faster system that helps teams identify process drift, respond before more defects are produced, and maintain a reliable history of measurements and corrective actions.

02

Who It’s For

The platform is designed primarily for small and mid-sized manufacturers that need practical SPC capabilities without the complexity of traditional statistical software. Operators can quickly record measurements, quality and manufacturing engineers can configure and investigate processes, and production supervisors can monitor plant-wide status from a central dashboard.

03

Approach

  • Create an operator-friendly measurement interface that minimizes disruption to production.
  • Analyze incoming data using live control charts and automated Nelson-rule detection.
  • Present each process’s current control status, latest measurement, and operator activity through a centralized dashboard.
  • Notify the appropriate team members when special-cause variation or process drift is detected.
  • Maintain an attributable history of measurements, signals, decisions, and corrective actions.
  • Use role-based interfaces so operators, engineers, and administrators each see the tools relevant to their responsibilities.

Current Development

I am currently developing and validating the Lineside SPC minimum viable product. The existing prototype includes operator measurement entry, live process dashboards, control-chart visualization, and automated checks for Nelson Rules. The next stage is to refine the user experience, complete the alerting and audit-trail workflows, and prepare the platform for pilot testing in a manufacturing environment.
